This High-Spec Linn LP12 came in for an upgrade. The Original spec was Klimax level (Ekos SE arm, Kandid cartridge, Cirkus bearing, Keel sub-chassis, Radikal, Urika) however with a Wenge Plinth. We updated the bearing to the Karousel, updated the Radikal PSU and motor, and swapped the cartridge for a MySonic Signature Platinum.

This involved a total strip-down and re-build with the new Bearing, Motor, speed sensor etc. The Radikal upgrade involved digging out the anti-statik mat and replacing the internal PCB in the machined Radikal case

The MySonic Labs SIgnature Platinum is their top end cartridge, and is truly something special. It looks the part, however is in a league of its own regards timing pace and balance, with a spectacular soundstage revealed that it at once focussed and deep.

Test playback through Naim Statement –

The first test playback revealed impressive potential, and a bit of fiddling ensued to find the optimum tracking weight. The MySonic Signature Platinum suggests a tracking weight range of 1.9 to 2.2g, and we found from extensive listening that it seems to prefer the bottom end of the range at ~1.9g.

With the setup sorted, this turntable revealed a fantastic range of detail and stage presence. The speakers and system melted away leaving us enjoying the music. Of course, we had to make some serious inroads into the vinyl collection to check that the initial findings were correct. We are confident that our customer will be delighted!
